Today, 28 April 2026, OBSERVE is holding Take 2 of its first Technical Workshop, taking place online via Microsoft Teams from 14:00 to 16:00 CEST. The session will be held in English and is organised as a closed, invitation-only stakeholder consultation focused on the future functionalities of national Building Stock Observatories.
This second session brings together targeted stakeholders whose expertise can directly support the design and operationalisation of national Building Stock Observatories, known as nBSOs, in six focus Member States: Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy and Spain.
The workshop builds on OBSERVE’s ongoing work to map national building-stock data ecosystems and assess data availability, accessibility and interoperability. The objective is to move from analysis to practical discussion by validating priorities, testing key assumptions and gathering feedback from actors who are closely connected to the realities of building data collection, management and implementation.
Throughout the two-hour session, discussions will focus on several key aspects of nBSO development. Participants will exchange on the scope, structure and feasibility of datasets and databases, as well as on the roles, governance models and standardisation processes needed to make these observatories effective and sustainable over time.
A specific part of the workshop will also be dedicated to data quality workflows, including validation, gap analysis, harmonisation and analytical verification. These elements are essential to support more reliable, transparent and usable building data at both national and European levels.
Rather than presenting a finalised model, this workshop aims to collect practical, experience-based feedback from stakeholders. Their contributions will help OBSERVE refine its approach and support the development of nBSO functionalities that are both ambitious and realistic.
