On 13 May 2026, several EU-funded initiatives will come together for a dedicated event focused on supporting the implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) across Europe.
Co-organised with DG ENER Unit B3, the event will bring together European projects, policy stakeholders and sector experts working on practical tools, methods and policy-support solutions to help Member States move from ambition to implementation.
Taking place at the Charlemagne Building, European Commission, Brussels, with the possibility to join online, the event will provide a space for exchange around the practical challenges and opportunities linked to EPBD implementation.
The programme will be structured around three main sessions:
Session 1 – The EPBD implementation system: policy, market uptake, digitalisation and finance
This first session will explore the broader framework needed to support the delivery of the EPBD, including policy coordination, market readiness, digitalisation and financing mechanisms.
Session 2 – Tracking implementation and enabling delivery: evidence, observatories and policy support
The second session will focus on the role of data, evidence and observatories in helping Member States monitor progress, identify gaps and support more informed decision-making.
Session 3 – From standards and building performance frameworks to practical implementation: tools, methods and collaborative solutions
The final session will highlight how technical frameworks, standards and project-developed solutions can support concrete implementation on the ground.
The event will showcase how EU-funded initiatives are contributing to the EPBD implementation process by providing practical knowledge, data, frameworks and tools for the building sector. It will also offer an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between projects and stakeholders working towards a more energy-efficient and sustainable built environment.
The event is co-organised by several EU-funded initiatives, including OPEN BEP4EU, Smarter EPC, iEPB, the EU Building Stock Observatory, ReLIFE, OBSERVE and BREEZE.
