How can EPBD requirements move from policy frameworks to concrete solutions on the ground?
On 13 May 2026, the European Commission and the LIFE Programme will host the hybrid event “Supporting EPBD implementation: Practical solutions developed by EU-funded initiatives”, bringing together EU-funded initiatives, national authorities, market actors and practitioners working to support the implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
As part of the event, Session 3 : “From standards and building performance frameworks to practical implementation: tools, methods and collaborative solutions” will focus on the technical and operational solutions that can help turn EPBD requirements into real-world results.
Turning frameworks into action
EPBD implementation relies not only on policy objectives, but also on practical tools, clear methods and strong collaboration between stakeholders.
Session 3 will explore how EU-funded projects are developing and applying methodologies, data structures and interoperable approaches to support Member States in rolling out EPBD requirements more effectively.

The discussions will highlight how LIFE Programme projects are contributing to practical implementation through:
- technical and operational tools;
- collaborative solutions between projects and stakeholders;
- interoperable approaches;
- support for national authorities and market actors;
- concrete methods to improve building performance across Europe.
