DHC SwEEtch first webinar: engage with the future of DHC networks!

DHC SwEEtch launches its first webinar to present methodologies, tools and early results supporting the decarbonisation of district heating and cooling networks across Europe. Discover insights from real case studies and future perspectives for the sector.
DHC SwEEtch launching event

As European cities accelerate efforts to meet climate targets, district heating and cooling (DHC) networks are entering a phase of structural transformation. Operators are increasingly required to reduce emissions, integrate new energy sources and maintain system performance under evolving regulatory and market conditions.

DHC SwEEtch is an EU-funded project supporting operators of existing DHC networks in the development of decarbonisation roadmaps towards 2050, along with investment plans over a 10-year horizon. These activities are aligned with the revised Energy Efficiency Directive and local energy transition strategies. Through an integrated toolchain and a set of European case studies, the project contributes to accelerating the deployment of efficient, low-carbon district heating and cooling systems across Europe.

The project will launch its first webinar on 28 April, from 10:00 to 11:30 CET.

The online session, organised within the framework of the Sustainable Energy Days, will introduce the project’s approach and present its initial results.

During the webinar, participants will gain insights into:

  • the project’s methodology
  • initial results and lessons learned from case studies in Italy, Poland and Croatia
  • expectations for the DHC sector in 2026, discussed through a roundtable focused on policy and market perspectives
  • next steps and opportunities for replicating the methodology across Europe

The session is addressed to DHC operators, energy stakeholders and service providers, as well as public authorities and local energy planners.

Participants will gain practical insights into the tools and strategies shaping the next phase of district heating and cooling in Europe. The webinar will conclude with an interactive session, allowing attendees to engage directly with the speakers and the project team.

R2M Solution acts as the project coordinator, ensuring the overall implementation and success of the project. It is responsible for defining the methodology for the decarbonisation of district heating and cooling networks, carrying out detailed simulations and financial analyses across the case studies, and providing expert advisory support to local communities on the development and optimisation of thermal networks.
