On 4 and 5 November, the 2nd URBAN MOME Network Conference was held in Barcelona under the theme “Towards efficient urban environments through modelling, measurement and control in the built environment.”
CIEMAT participated through its Building Energy Efficiency R&D Unit, presenting the European OBSERVE project and reaffirming its leading role within the URBAN MOME Network. Coordinated by CIEMAT, the Network provides a platform for knowledge exchange on modelling, measurement and control in the building sector, with the objective of improving energy efficiency and supporting the decarbonisation of urban areas. Launched in autumn 2023, the Network is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities through the National Research Agency.
The conference programme included a stakeholder seminar held on 3 November at the Palau Robert, featuring invited international experts and presentations from the Network’s working groups. On 4 November, a technical workshop took place at IREC, where participating organisations presented key projects aligned with the Network’s thematic areas.
In total, twenty-two presentations were delivered, offering a comprehensive overview of current scientific and technological developments in Spain, as well as relevant international initiatives.
The URBAN MOME Network coordinated by María José Jiménez and Silvia Soutullo, brings together CIEMAT, TECNALIA, ITE, IREC, CARTIF, and the Universities of Oviedo, Valladolid and Deusto, with additional participation from invited institutions including CIMNE, IETcc-CSIC and several Spanish universities.
The conference concluded with a brainstorming session to define future actions. It was agreed that the 3rd URBAN MOME Network Conference will be held in Madrid in February 2026, following a similar format to previous editions.
